THANK YOU …
… for choosing to receive these weird missives of ‘found stories’ from a fellow human just trying to make sense of this mad clown-world we live in.
The handwritten ‘Thank You’ note on the back of a coffee-stained receipt used as a makeshift bookmark is a particularly fitting metaphor for this Substack. Not to be taken lightly as a slapdash throw-away piece of ephemera but, instead, an honest off-the-cuff attempt at making an earnest connection with people across aeons and continents.
‘Conversing’ with the ancient world through their stories is a wonderful thing but being able to converse with each other about those stories today, in the modern (did I mention ‘clown’?) world is a luxury we take for granted at our peril.
So, I hope you’ll continue to join us in the upcoming year where we will ‘find’ stories from the golden age of the Orghuz Turks, the storytellers of mighty Benin and many, many more.
Thank You and remember to keep your loved ones close and your reading glasses closer.
Take care of each other.
Just found your account recently but looking forward to following along in the new year!
